Craftsman makes great Torque wrenches.
Get a couple sizes and dedicate one to tires and one to engine work.

Thanks for this information everyone. The Craftsman set was on sale for $30! My wife needed some ideas for Christmas and went to get myself (from her) a set today!

Make sure you get a Metric Adjustable Wrench and Standard Adjustable Wrench.

If you have a 997.2 and ever decide to DIY the spark plugs, you'll want to have one of these 13mm Elbow wrenches handy:

This will make quick work of The Bolt From Hell holding the exhaust together.

might not be necessary as long as you always rewind the cd or dvd after each use.

Default Torque wrench

I love my split beam torque wrench, you can leave it set and do not need to worry about the springs going awry and changing it's accuracy.
I've had cheaper ones go bad resulting in broken bolts, I never worry about this one.

The far easiest solution is a checkbook--and a good balance!

Aside from that, a reasonable collection of metric sockets, etc. Allens are less used today so you'll need a variety of Torx, both male and female variety.

The curious thing about German cars is that they generally use these sizes: 10, 11, 13, 15, 1, 19mm. Japanese cars tend to use the even sizes. Strange observation.
