New aerokit/GT3 front bumper installed, finally
i have been wanting this mod for a long time and finally got it done. Aerokit OEM front bumper cover modified to replicate GT3 997.1 bumper with the GT3 rennline "smile" vent kit and used plastidip to coat the bottom lip which looks similar to the black poly of the GT3 and it is easy to repair/repaint as well. The funny thing is that I have wanted to do this way before the 911R and of course when the R came out I fell in love with the car, but will never be able to get my hands on one.
Overall the painter did a great job on matching the paint (no blend). To make a long story short, I was there and helped decide on the match. He was having a hard time getting it perfect. The BASF rep just so happen to pull up and give his recommendation. Sure enough there was another paint code that he tried and he brought me back and it was a dead match. When I blocked out the guys hand and got on an angle with no shadows, the paint chip literally disappeared next to my old bumper.
Anyway, I have always felt like the front of the 997 (as well as a 991) are a bit of a weak point for me. Not bad, but the GT3 just looks so much better (not as much of a fan of the normal aerokit front bumper as the paint to match bottom skirt and no smile vent to break up the color just looks too big and too much color). here are the results. Sorry for all the pics, hard to find the perfect angle.
Here is a breakdown of my costs and products since so many have been asking
$1450 bumper (circle porsche online-picked up, no shipping charges.....The online dealers wanted to charge me $300+ to ship)
$500 prep and paint
$220 GT3 smile vent kit (rennline)
$35 DIY mesh grill
4-5 hrs my own labor
$400-500 clearbra

Forgot to mention that I added screens in front of the radiators. It is amazing the amount of crap and vacuumed out of there. It just kept pulling more and more stuff out. Glad it did the screens at the same time.

Rod....Great job to you and your painter. From the pics the color match is dead on and I have a background in painting. Everything is spot on. Drive happy my friend!

Way good, so much so that you may have sold a few more of these, I know that my front spoiler addition didn't "do enough" for the front of my 997.....but Getty ducktail and side graphic are next (74 RS look)
Cheers, looks fantastic!!!

Thanks for the complements everyone. It's nice to be able to go to a place and share our passion for these cars. 99.9999% of the people in the street wouldn't have a clue what is different about my car after this modification (and I kind of like that. I am sure a lot more people will be aware when I go to our cars and coffee event.
I am on Eibach pro-kit springs. Ideally, I'd love to raise the front a 1/2" to take a little rake out.
I am planning on the LuminX lightly tinted light covers for the front and may eventually do some different decals (top stripes, side PORSCHE) just for fun to see how it turns out (if I don't end up liking it, it is a cheap mod to undue).
