Another newbie / first time P car owner
Hi Guys
Wanted to do a proper intro thread. Like many I've lusted after a P car since my youth. Didn't help that my best friend's next door neighbor had a a GR Targa with a whale tail. Not sure about the year, but it would have been a mid 80s build. Man I loved that thing.
Fast forward a LOT of years and the family CFO gave me the green light! I didn't ask twice and started the search. I narrowed by search down to a 997.2 or a 991.1. GR with beige/tan interior was a must. First I wanted an cabrio S, but then decided a 4S because I plan to drive it most of the year and live in PA with snow. I came close a couple times on 991s, then this Cabrio C4S bad boy popped up on ebay and it was only 15 miles away! Was too good and easy to pass up.
The arguments about the 997 being a truer sport car vs. a GT swayed me towards the 997. I don't know if it's true or not and I don't really care. A comparable 991 would have been $20K more and wasn't worth it to me. I haven't put many miles on it yet, but I plan to DD it. No garage queen here, but I do plan to keep her looking presentable.

First Mods
First mods are already in the works. I bought a used set of Turbo wheels from a semi-local member that will go on this week. Not a big fan of the sport classics on the car now.
And of course, I had to do the obligatory rennlist first mod:

Congrats on the new car, and realizing your dream. Now, stop posting on RL, and find some twisty back roads to enjoy with the CFO...T

I was looking for that color combo or tan interior with Saphire blue. Ended up with same color combo as my last Porsche: Artic Silver & black. Beautiful, enjoy. Got mine Monday. I'm 68 years young and this is P #7.

Slippery slope is right. I already want to do something about the exhaust because I really wanted PSE and it doesn't have it. I'm going to try really hard to wait a while before doing anything. Maybe watch the classifieds and pounce if something interesting pops up. It certainly doesn't help that Fabspeed is about 1.5 hours away. Sooo tempting.
Other details I forgot. It has 3 pedals! A must on my 997 shopping list. When the dealer ran the DME is had several hundred 1s, but get this nothing else. Not a single 2,3,4,5, or 6!
Thanks for all of the compliments. I'm really enjoying it.

Gorgeous car. I always considered red the quintessential Porsche color, and in a 996 and 997 I think the cab with black top looks especially awesome. Congrats, drive safe and enjoy!

No worries on the sound I've got you covered, that car has incredible potential without the PSE system. Shooting you over a PM to chat about some options. No rush of course, making an educated decision is the best decision and i'd be thrilled to help make that happen when the time comes.
Also, it is great you are so close! I'd love to have you come down for installation of what we come up with, and i'll be sure to give you a full tour of our showroom and an inside look at our product development process. You can even shake the hand of the fellow who fabricated your system, who can also laser engrave your name/initials on your exhaust if you so choose haha.
Looking forward to chatting with you, and put some good miles on her in the mean time

Turbo wheels!!!
OK. I realize I'm not exactly blazing a new trail here but got the turbos put on and had to share. I like them soooo much more.
