Default 997.2 Oil leak getting inside my LF wheel????

Strut or oil cooler maybe??

Car had front damage in the past and I recently had lowering springs installed.

Nasty mess

Thanks

Do you have an external oil cooler? A picture would help to see how much oil but my first thought was PS fluid. Strut is also a good suggestion.

You need to jack up the car, remove the wheel, and visually inspect for the source of the leak. If it's the strut it should be obvious.

Check your power steering fluid... you may have a leak in your rack.

Shocks usually don't leak that much fluid. Just take a white paper towel and wipe where the silver piston enters the tube. If leaking, you will have black gunk... the fluid mixed with dirt.

Keep us posted.

Peace

It looks to be originating from the under body panel and jack pad location.
Right at the rear of the LF wheel

It must hit the inside of the wheel slightly.
Oil looks clean where it drips straight to the floor.

I'm guessing it's the steering?
Can it be re sealed or am I in for an expensive part????

Pray it's not your steering rack. They are non serviceable and are ~$1800

You don't have to pull the pan.... just check your reservoir in your engine compartment.

Someone just replaced their rack ... did a DIY and purchased a rebuilt unit.... posted here on Rennlist.

I only 8000 miles on the car.

Is the power steering fluid tank black and right next to the oil fill???
997.2S
I don't read German labels well.lol

Feels like clean vegetable oil on the garage floor, a little nasty when mixed with break dust.

Not feeling the new rack option at $1800

My bet is brake line fluid. Check your brake reservoir. Installer probably had the the caliper get away from him and hang by the hose at some point (it happens to the best of us).

Ok
I finally took it in and the service shop says it's the front strut/ shock???
I don't have a price yet for parts or labor just that it's not going to be cheap!

It only has 7500 miles on it but the same shop just installed lowering springs and did the alignment 500 miles ago.
Could the strut have been damaged while changing springs????
Thanks

lowering springs are the death to PASM shocks....wrong way to lower a 997.

Either instal stock shocks and the new LF OEM shock...or lower the car the proper way with Bilstein Damptronic B16 coilovers....these allow you to still use the 2 PASM shock settings.

You can't short cut Porsche engineering....lowering springs are not the proper way.
