iPod not charging
I'm new to the 997,have a '12 GTS.Should my iPod charge when plugged into the iPod slot?Mine isn't charging, didn't know if it's my older ipod model or that's just the deal with the 997.

Which iPod, which cable, old one or new one, for the 30 pin connector.
The newer cable plugs into USB and plug, old one just plugs into plug.
Older iPods some use different charging circuits and need the newer cable, others use the original cable.
Are you just plugging into the USB outlet with the Apple cable?

As Larrytrk said, my experience with 997.2:
You need the special new Porsche cable which has a Y piece also going into the USB port for 5V charging supply. Apple abandoned the 10 volt connection to the old Firewire setup

your vehicle using the connecting cable supplied:

It should charge if you have both ends of the Y plugged in. The USB is required to provide the power for a charge. It's not 100% clear to me from the earlier posts if you have the USB side plugged in as well.

I then started locking the car in the garage and now I have no issues.
See if this resolves the issue.

The cables will charge the iPod when the car is on (ignition I assume) - but not when the key is out and removed. There is some indication the iPod being plugged in to the cable may prevent some iDevices form going to sleep (lowpower mode) and as such they might go flat quicker than had they been unplugged. As mentioned by others, the key to letting the iPod go to sleep may well be locking the car or not.
