Just heard from the INDI the engine turns over by hand great when cold, soon as hot its nearly impossible to turn over by hand..
So lets be clear on this.....when its cold, he can reach in and turn the motor over when its cold? I mean literally use his hands?? Does he use a wrench? I find it hard to believe that with the motor cold he reaches in a turns it over when it still has the spark plugs in it. If thats true then you have very bad compression.

I'm not a 997 expert by a long shot but I've seen this before on other cars - thrust bearing failure.

the engine was turned over with a socket and small bar when cold yet when the engine was warmed up and belt removed it was hard to turn with bar n socket..

we are in the process of removing the plugs and seeing how it performs when warm and these are removed to see how it behaves

what the OP has not mentioned yet is the engine has the dreaded knocking noise coming from bank 2 of engine which which relates to ovaling of the bore, carbon build up and bore scoring

Although I suggested hand crank your engine on your other thread, I really didn't expect the engine itself to "seize" when hot. Curious to learn the root cause. Removing the spark plugs and retest is a very logical next step.

I usually don't make comments like these but I can't fathom how you tolerated this for 4yrs! I'll be on pins and needles if it happens more than once.

It sounds quite reproducible so that's a good thing. Much easier to troubleshoot.

I don't know... but seems some info was left out... but if the cold vs hot description is somewhat correct... maybe coolant intrusion.

If it is now knocking on one bank, then it finally hydrolocked and busted/bent some parts, like a con rod.
