Decal covering of airbag sticker
Been lots of conversation on removing or covering up the distracting airbag sticker on the sun visor. For $12, I opted for a low cost solution to start.
In the pic with flash, you can see the difference in color/texture of the covering. Sitting in the car, I cannot see it. Just put it on, so, have no idea about its durability, but I'm satisfied for now.

I went a little more crass.....I left the drivers side sticker, but put this on the passenger side.....it is even better if you don't point it out and wait for them to find it. My wife asks me every time she see's it.....

Luckily for me the cheap plastic hingepins on the cheap plastic visor mirror doors cracked off, so I bought a cheap plastic replacement set from Suncoast which don't have the stickers.

So what is this expensive plastic you are all indicating is out there? Is that next to the unicorns in the parts bin?
If this stuff is cheap plastic, what is it that GM, Ford, and Chrysler use on their interiors? Laquer-infused-corn-husks?

I am a new 02 Boxster owner and I immediately wanted to remove those obnoxious air bag stickers off of my visors. I have a triple black Boxster and those yellowish stickers stuck out like a neon light. Thanks to this forum I went with isopropyl alcohol and in about 10 minutes I had one sticker removed. Easy peasy. No damage to the vinyl. Just keep resoaking your rag and keep rubbing the IA on the sticker gently and pretty soon they begin to dissolve. Clean up with a typical cleaner (401 or Fantastic) and then apply 303 or Armor-All and you'll love it.

I used some solvent... don't remember what. Back when I purchased my 2000 Boxster S, the method was denatured alcohol. This time I know I used something stronger as I am losing my patience with this stuff and worry less about damaging the vinyl.
Don't rub all over the place, and stay "between the lines" as smearing the decal/paint may leave visible residue elsewhere.
Just finish up with your favorite vinyl dressing.
Oh, and remove the flap and do the work on your kitchen table. Much easier to do quality work this way.
Peace

Previous owner boogered up the drivers side on mine leaving residue on the leather and actually scratched the leather. I can also see where they attempted the passenger side. I need a solution to cover these areas.

How about the sticker on the top side (on the mirror) cover of sun visor? I took the bottom sticker off but left the top one in place. The sticker on this side stick to the rubber/plastic paint and maybe harder to remove cleanly than the one on the vinyl.

A decent solvent solves the problem. If you have leather visors it works without damaging them. Some solvents have issues with the vinyl and then you have a bigger problem. Test your solvent in a less obvious area.
