Default Glove Box Squeak

Has anyone fixed a glove box squeak? I'm noticing a squeak (not really a rattle) between the box lid and latch. It definitely goes away when I apply pressure to the the latch from the outside.

I haven't had time to investigate the glove box yet but wanted to see if anyone has fixed this DIY.

Ok. I'll answer my own post. I sprayed a tiny amount of tri-flow to the rear of the two hinges and the squeak is gone when I open and close the glove box. I didn't have time to test the noise while driving so that will have to wait until the next time I drive the car.

I accessed the two hinges by lying on my back upside down and sticking my head into the footwell of the passenger seat.

The squeaking is still there. My glove box opens smoothly now but the squeak is still there on some road surfaces.

Are you saying your globe box squeaks, or that your wife squeaks?

My '09 has a pretty constant squeak from the glove box area--especially in cold weather. That seems to be another problem area for the 997 and there are some threads on this forum about how to find and fix that. Some felt, judiciously jammed into some interior seams has worked for others. It's been two years for me now, and I barely notice it, so fixing it moved down near the bottom of my to-do list.

There is a part number for a CD that emits different frequencies to allow harmonics to track down various squeaks. I've got that at home and will post it tonight if no one does so before then.

Part number for "Special tool for checking noise and vibrations" is WM 090595 Porsche CD.

This may not be your issue, but I noticed some squeaking when I tried to put too much stuff into mine. It was applying pressure to the door. Might be a possibility.

I've had a creaking noise from my glove compartment since I got the car. It was driving me crazy. Then I found that pushing on the top left front of the lid stopped the creaking. I tried wedging cardboard in various places and then realized that there are two plastic catches on each side of the lid that retract when you open the lid. I greased those up and the creaking went away.

Yep, I greased those points to. I took a look again today and I think the squeak I'm hearing is coming from the piston on the right side. I greased it again and tried getting in to various places. It still squeaks a bit when I open and close the lid but hopefully it will be less.

I've tried driving with the box empty and full and it doesn't make a difference.
