Scam alert
Was browsing ebay looking silver 911's and found a 2005 for a few grand and no reserve. Thought it looked like a scam so I notified ebay. Also, just in case it was real asked the guy if I could look at the car. This is what he sent back, so now I am convinced it is a scam. If it looks too good to be true it is. Here is a copy of the email. Not sure if the links will work. Just pasted them from my email.

Hi,
My 2005 Porsche Carrera Coupe is still for sale. My asking price is $25,000.
I'm the 3rd owner. The title is clear and there is no lien on the vehicle.
There are 35,000 miles on the car and it is in excellent condition, no accidents, no scratches, no dents, no issues of any kind. No mechanical or electrical problems, no paintwork. It has always been garage kept, non-smoker, no pets.
I have to sell the car to free up some money to invest in business opportunity.
I will send you more pictures and the carfax report in my next message.
Please check your email. The message may not come to inbox.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Thank you,
James

I may have missed something. Why are you saying the ad is a scam? I know, the price is very low but he may need money ASAP.

I have seen these a few times before. The question I asked through ebay was can I come see the car. That was the response I got. He had 0 ebay feedback. The grammer in the email does not sound like a james bosch. In the past I played the "what if this real" game and spent lots of time avoiding phone calls and emails.
His email is there if someone wants to try to contact him.

But, I agree. If the seller cannot provide a place and time for you to view the car in person, it is likely a scam.

I thnk the point is the seller didn't even attempt to answer the potential buyers question. They just sent out a form letter. I also love the "business opportunity" part.
Diff strokes for diff folks but I seriously question folks who dump all their cash into a car.

Yeah I found a 1968 Toyota 2000 on the internet with 15,000 original miles and the guy wanted $30,000. Pictures were perfect. Odd thing they are worth over $300,000 minimum. When things are too good to be true they are not in most cases.

The plot thickens. I just could not resist asking about the location again. Just in case. He emailed me back saying the car is in Wyoming, where he just moved from Virginia. He said he will ship the car to me and he will pay shipping so I can inspect the car. I then have 5 days to approve the car and then I can pay for it if I approve. Or he will pay shipping back.
On one hand I want to think I can get a 997 with 35,000 miles for $25K. The deal of the century. On the other hand I know the next email. It will be to deposit the $25K with a third party who will hold the money until I approve the transaction.
Anyone in Wyoming want to go look at the car? Should I keep playing or let well enough alone?

sure why not
I mean if he pays for the shipping back and forth try to see if you guess is correct and he wants to use a Escrow company
good luck

Sounds like a scam. I encountered an almost similar situation on a 993 C2S that was "allegedly" in California but the seller was in Amsterdam. Buyer would take a deposit and then pay to ship the car to me in NC, give me 5 days to inspect and then take the rest of the money via wire.
No way in hell.

Think about this logically....Would you, if you were selling a car, pay $1000 to ship a car to some random person who "might" buy it, and then pay $1000 to ship it back home if they didn't buy it? I have a feeling if you keep digging they will want some type of deposit and then that's the scam.

Just keep him on the hook. The longer you delay him, the less likely he is to be successful in scamming someone else. If enough ppl fck with him and his success rate drops or his "sales" cycle increases, maybe (just maybe) he'll give up.
I often wonder how much these guys make, and what their lives must otherwise be like in order to engage in what seems to me to be a low-return venture.
