997 Secondary Air Pump
Hello,
I have a problem with my 997CS.
It's fail to emission test (CO too high).
I have only one DTC error " P0418 Secondary Air Injection System Relay "A" Circuit Malfunction ".
But , my car have not this pump , the pump emplacement is empty (it's Dubai version).
My four o2 sensors are always blocked at 0.85V (no variations ) , only when i'm decelerate , they passes at 0V.
Anybody have this problem ?

No , but I'm moved to France with my car (expatriate)
The DME was flashed by Porsche (EURO4 Emissions)
Perhaps , the EURO software contain Secondary air Pump ?
If the pump is absent/ problem , the DME go to emergency programm and the car run rich?

Who knows, to be honest. You need to consult with mechanic who can trace origins and results and implications of all those differences in car's construction for different regions.
I am not sure why and how car can run with no pump there. But apparently, it can, if you do not have it. As a simplest thing to try - disconnect maf sensor and while keeping rpms under 3k measure co to see if anything differs from previous tests.

The air pump comes in for a short period after cold start only. This is to heat the CATs up quickly. The DTC about the relais is caused by the missing pump. Your CO Problem is not there.
You need to verify the proper function of the lambda control loop.
Can you exclude that the CATs may have been poisoned by leaded fuel in Dubai?

I have a customer with the same problem. Is this problem solved? Its a 06 911 cs4 3.8 abd there is no sai pump or lines, but I have the p0418 code. I dont know the origin off the car but there is arabic on the mirrors.

SAI pump missing
I replaced the 2.7 engine in my 2000 Audi S4. The car is Tiptronic but the new engine was from a 6speed. The manual trans engine does not use a Secondary Air Injection pump and there are no ports in the heads. I had a hacker reprogram the ECU to skip the SAI test. This test as mentioned earlier only runs for 1 minute when the engine is cold.
Not sure why Manual trans doesn't need it but Automatic trans do. Runs great without the pump too.
PS if anyone has a pump with bad bearings they may want to get new bearings. The Audi pumps use standard Skateboard bearings. I had replaced the bearings in my SAI years ago and it worked perfectly.

Hi, sorry to hop in guys, I am having issue with 997,2007, C4s, car hesitates too much while I do press accelerator rapidly, fault is P0418- driver of secondary air pump relay, but I can' t see any pump here...
check the issue in my car here
now after car is heated up, it works fine. We have changed fuel pump, injectors, spark plug, coil for this problem.. does not goes away

Emissions tests these days are all software. They use the cars own monitoring system to perform the tests. Since there are hardware differences between Middle Eastern and European/American builds, if you re-flash the ECU (DME) it will expect to see the missing hardware. Since the test is looking at the cars own programming, it will fail. You either need to install the missing hardware or use the method above and hack out the test that looks for it. Installing what is missing may be a major job or not. You will have to find someone who has done it. I would assume Porsche doesn't make dramatically different engines just for another market, so it should be possible. Good luck.

I have same car, same problem, same faulty-code. New Lambda 2x, new cat 2x. But still same problem.
Is your problem solft ??
