Default Exhaust tip cleaning method

Cleaned my exhaust tips this past evening, thought I'd post about the method and products used. Thanks to Edgy for posting re. nevr-dull in a previous post. I used a microfiber and water in-between cleanings along the way. First started with the citrus then pad finally polish. All products for under $10 (I lovvvve $10 DIY projects).

Tips had not been cleaned in 90k miles, going to start cleaning more often.

Looks great! I did mine last spring and still enjoy the appearance change at the back of the car. New tips from Suncoast are over $700, SharkWerks has some nice ones for $500! But 20 minutes and $10 is so much better and the satisfaction of DIY

Are they easily removed for cleaning? Or did you do them on the car?

Thank you for replies.
Left them on car. Worked each one for about 10 to 15 mins.

I use barkeepers friend and a sponge. One step works, 2 minutes, looks awesome.

Yep, Bar Keepers Friend or the French version Bon Ami work great.

Thanks.
One more question - when using the steel wool - did you always rub on one direction (front to back) or random directions?

back and forth, up and down, every which way

the wool pad is the key in this process mixed with the citrus solution
