Idle at Startup
I've owned my 2009 C2S for almost two years and recently (last few weeks) I have noticed that when I start the car with a cold engine the RPM's at startup are a round 8K which is my normal warmed up engine RPM. In the past when I started the car with a cold engine the idle would be at 11K RPM for about the first 30 seconds and then drop to 8K RPM. Could it be related to the Atlanta heat? Is it anything to look into as in a symptom of something yet to come? The car runs fine and does not idle rough. Should I be concerned?

Obviously you mean 800 and 1,100 RPMs. That aside, it has been written here (by others) that at startup the car will sound throatier and rev a bit higher in order to warm up the catalytic converter. I have no idea why your car is doing what it is doing - just a bit of information to help you along.

The recent change in your start-up idle could be because of the warmer weather. It could also be that the sensor for the cats is not working correctly. I doubt that this situation is a precursor for any impending issues.
