Default Culprit in bad hot start cranking?

Car is an 05 C2S. I know this has been debated before. Battery is fine and car starts fine when cold but cranks slowly or not at all when hot or stalled at a stoplight etc. Is it the cable battery/ starter/ alternator? Its always fine if you stop and let it sit a minute, but it kind of bugs me and I thought I would try and get it fixed with the next service. Thanks
Jim

Default Hard starts

I've got a 06 4S and have suffered through several summers with this starting issue. Had it at the dealer several times....replaced batteries, and starter w no fix. Lots of discussion here about this.
The alternator cable replacement is expensive, that's why the dealer doesn't want to fix it. I finally changed the cable and it fixed the problem. Wish I would have done it a long time ago.
Do a search here and you'll hear the same story. Good luck!

I have the exact same issue and will probably end up changing the cable myself.

'05 here also had the same problem. My extended warranty covered replacing the cable. No problems since.

Ditto. I wrestled with this for almost a year. Replaced the battery, etc. Finally the dealership replaced the cable (under warranty) and the problem was immediately solved. Haven't had to think about it since.

Have heard this is a fairly common problem with 06 model year cars. I looked at one and it had been replaced.

Since I have an extended 100,000 mile warranty perhaps I should have this done!

It's either your starter motor or the cable. Starter is much easier to replace than the cable (I just replaced my starter last Monday) but if you don't have the upgraded version of the cable then that might be contributing to your problem too.

It's the cable that goes from battery to the starter. it's a know 997 issue. The cable is $80 but the job is $1000.
It is expensive due to labor duration, and that you have to remove AC compressor.
I'm taking mine to the shop this summer.
Diagnostic : cold start, no issue, drive car until hot, turn off and restart. Bad or no crank, very difficult to start.
Cause: broken and cracked insulation on the cable and increased resistance when hot. There are several links on this topic.
