Dirty rear end
after 3 weeks of ownership of a 2006 c2s and 500 miles, I've noticed the rear of the car gets extremely dirty and hard to clean which leads me to believe the car is running rich and throwing soot all over the rear bumper. Is that normal for these cars? I searched and it seems like this was an issue on some 997.2
BTW my car does not consume oil. The oil level is still full but I do get a smell of burnt oil from the rear after spirited drives.

Some time ago a previous Pcar had rear wheels so badly out of alignment due to dealer error, I was getting black rubber soot on the rear.
The smell could be brake pad or factory engine protection coating cosmoline

Weather? I'm up in Seattle and have been driving mine through this wonderful Pacific Northwest winter. Can't keep the back end of mine clean. Being black on black doesn't help either. Actually...it's been difficult keeping the whole thing clean.

RejeX Wax your rear bumper. It will be easier to clean. Some of the dirt won't even get a chance to stick.

Thanks for all the input.
This is what the car looked like before a wash. I am used to driving in bad weather and my others don't get this dirty on the rear. That stuff was hard to wash off as well which really makes me believe it is soot from the exhaust. One issue might be that i don't let the car warm up after a cold start. I just get going and stay under 3k rpm until the oil temp start to go up. I read that these cars run very rich after cold start. It does need a wax/sealant which i think will help. The exhaust tips turn black so i really think this is exhaust soot rather than brake dust or tire dust. Ill keep an close eye on oil and gas consumption. I might change sparks plugs event tho it only has 14k miles it is due based on age. Sounds like this is not a common finding on these cars. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't paranoid. Thanks!

That's the correct way to start and drive a cold car it does not need to sit and idle and warm-up you are doing it the right way

Btw while the rear was filthy, the rest of the car was still pretty clean which is why i don't think weather and normal driving is to blame unless the aerodynamics of the car with aerokit promotes this kind of stuff.

The rear of my GTS with Aerokit looks like that pretty much all the time. I washed the car Saturday and drove it MAYBE 5 km, and the rear and sides looked like they hadn't been washed in weeks.

Buddhamonk, if you see a Silver 996tt with a dirty butt driving around PDX, it's me. I've found waxing the behind makes cleanup a lot easier.
