Default Anyone with a 997 and 18" Carrera Classic?

i am about to switch to winter tires and was offered 18" carrera classic 5 spoke with pirellis.

do they look good on the 997... or too small. i am wondering, anyone with some pics for this combination?

thanks in advance!

best, marxair

Here's what it will look like on Carrera III's (are you sure yours are classics and not III's like mine? The classics commonly found on Caymans and 911's are 19's).

The second photo is what your car may look like running 265 rears if the Pirelli's offered are of that width. Keep in mind the narrow wheels are accentuated by my wide-body Carrera 4's hips.

265 18"rear wheels needs 15mm spacers to flush it with the fenders.

cool pics, thanks. yeah, they confirmed carrera classic to me... spacers are a good idea, the rims look good even in 18"

the porsche looks great without front number plate... its a pitty to drive it with mandatory front "brake flap" here in Germany...

265 are too narrow. Go wider 285 at least

Why do you say that? Looks?

I run 265s on my Carrera3s in the winter on my C2S and love them. They're a lot of fun. I enjoy driving the car with less rubber on the rear.

Also, I have sport-PASM and factory 5mm spacers and love the way the wheels look on the car. I prefer them to the factory 19s. Lighter, livelier. Incredibly easy to clean.

If you are driving in any snow, the narrower the tire, the more traction you have (same car weight with a thinner tire equals more downforce per square inch), hence, 265 in the rear is the way to go for winter tires.

I also went for 265 rear for my winter setup.

You can get Carrera Classics replicas in 18", factory BBS only come in 19". I almost bought a set with winter tires as well (it would have matched my OEM Carrera Classics perfectly) but decided on a different set. The design lends them to look bigger than they are so the 18s probably look just fine. From what I recall they were stamped "Made in Italy" with aftermarket center caps.

OEM 18s are CarreraIII as shown above, or the 09+ CarreraIV.

Looks ok, but not great, I have it for my winter setup and it's fine for winter. BEATS any of those crappy Chinese made wheels people buy for winter!

8/10 18" rims are great for winter tires, pa2 michelins in 235/265. If you track your car you can put on those rims some rain tires like conti dws instead so it would be more universal, you can go with 275 or 285 sizes in rear this way.
I run my car on z1 star specs all year round on 235/275 on those rims and use track rims for ra1 or nt01. Front is on 15mm spacer, rear is on 5mm but my LCAs are not stock as car is tuned for 9/12 inch wide rims (front/rear).

I also have to say, i experimented a lot with various rims for street tires and somehow ended up with those same carrera classics car came with originally.
