Default DIY: Deleting the Side Marker Light Bulbs

First thread on the 997 board, haven't made a formal introduction yet, but I'm working on a few odds and ends before taking proper pictures of the car...

Anyway, I'm obsessed with lighting and it has to be done right. I have the Dectane tail lights and installed a set of Hoen LED bulbs in the front signal positions on the Turbo. Which makes the side markers a sticking point. I've never been a fan of side markers. It's a DOT BS IMO so I figured out a way to bypass them.

You need a pair of 1W 220 Ohm 2% resistors and the idiot light disappears. First you need to remove the side markers. Then twist the resistors with a pair of needle nose pliers and install them in the sockets in place of the bulbs and voila!

In my case I'm almost out of gas and TPC is in learning mode but there is no light out warning!

But, but, but ....
I find them very useful, especially when converted to signal lights (as opposed to idiot lights ) using Durametric.
In particular, in traffic while changing lines.

Do the regular signal lights continue to work with the side lights too?

Yes they work in conjunction with regular and side markers.

Bumping this up. The pics are no longer available. Can anyone verify the process and point me in the right direction for pics?

Don't bother. Just get Durametric Pro or PIWIS and code the side markers as turn signal indicators the way they are in Europe/ROW.

Not an option with this setup, at least not an option I'm looking for. The side marker light assembly will be removed entirely

What are you going to fill the "hole" with?

Default Welcome to the forum (from former owner of yer RSA)

No comment on the sidemarker. I like that mine (clear) operate with the turn signals. I was the former custodian of RSA #017 with TPC supercharger. After selling that car to Theo for 20K (kick me), I've owned an 88 Carrera Targa, an 89 964 C4 (sold to brother) and now an 06 997S. Please post pics soon and report all mods. Here's the RSA just back then.
