I have found that the most important thing that the Sports mode does is to change the shift point on a PDK car.

For those of us with Sport Mode (something I had the Porsche dealer add) and Tiptronic it makes the shift points much more sharp with a higher RPM transition when in automatic mode as well as manual. I just wish I didn't always have to push the button when I start it because I love the throttle response as well in addition to higher tolerance for PSM.

The only thing that concerns me when the car is in Sport Mode is that i tend to rag the car ALOT and since Im an engineer i tend to worry about the engine so i make sure the oil and coolant is hot, but then i don't want to knacker the engine.
I know these are ok engine but everything has their limit.

I press the Sport and or the Shock button when going over parking lot dips or speed bumps. It can prevent from scraping the under body panels.
