would this likely come up during a scan by the dealer?

Sooty left exhaust tips are a normal finding in the 911. They all have it. If the car is running well and does not consume excess oil you can safely ignore most of the advice given above. No need to have the cylinders scoped. No need to add a third radiator. No need to have the oil analyzed. No need to change oil more frequently than once a year. No need to use anything other than 0 - 40. That's what the engineers at Porsche recommends and you can safely asume that they know more about the cars than the armchair mechanics on RL.

My advice is to drive the car and don't worry about it.

Fwiw: I have changed a couple of o2 sensors for unrelated cel's. Has not changed the left tailpipe issue. Milage has improved it. A very long breakin?

I agree with Boo lala. My car does the same thing and just assumed it's normal. The car runs great and has only consumed 1/3 quart in the last 6,000 miles. After cleaning the exhaust tips really well and polishing with Eagle One metal polish the soot now comes off easily with a soapy rag. It's a part of normal car cleaning with a 911.

You are welcome golf time!
i honestly don't need or desire to have people agree (or disagree) with me.
In fact I don't present my opinions, I just merely share what I collected to date on this matter.
My left and right exhausts are absolutely the same and are soot free. Come over have a look if you wish so. Believe whatever you want. You don't HAVE to install any parts at all. I am not associated with any company that profits from parts sales. It's your car after all.
Happy motoring.

I am a 996 guy, but thought this post is still relevant to this thread.

FWIW, my left exhaust tip is been getting sooty after a few days ever since I bought the car last April 2016. Since then I have put almost 17k miles on the car. 47k to 64k miles. I changed oil 5 times and the last few fills have been Motul 8100 x-cess 5W40. My car drives great and I am not hearing any noises. I also have had my oil analyzed each time. I am hoping I am going to be ok.

my understanding is that they do not cross. The inside of the center muffler does not cross...
