OBD II Trouble Code P1126 O2 Sensor...
I have a 1999 996 with 70k miles and my check engine light came on about one month ago. The code was "P1128 & P1130". My mechanic changed the mass air sensor hoping that would take care of the problem. After driving the vehicle one day (approximately 60 miles) the check engine light came on again. The code is now "P1126 O2 Sensor cyl 4-6". My mechanic then cleaned the throttle body as it was dirty and re-set the check engine light. The light came on again after driving the car 60 miles. The car runs great and I've never had any problems. Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions?
Thanks

You know this is the 911/997 forum, not the 911/996 forum right?
Anyway... Are you rolling with a stock air box and stock ECU engine map? The air filter is relatively new and clean? Sometimes this can confuse the system if everything isn't stock. Remember the ECU is using the mass air flow sensor, the O2 sensor, the crank position sensor, the cam position sensor to figure out when and how long to open the fuel injectors.
If the code now is for the o2 sensor, you might want to just change it. It's pretty easy to do (right near the rear bumper cover) and they don't last forever. It could've been that the o2 sensor was bad from the beginning and the computer was somehow fooled into thinking it was the mass air sensor. It's all inter-related and without an exhaust gas analyzer it's a bit tough to do the kind of investigating that might give you conclusive info. You can probably check the 02 sensor with a volt meter (someone should be able to give you a resistance) but sometimes they fail intermitently.

Hi,
Saw this thread and couldn't help digging it out again. I got the same
problem. Got P1128 and replaced the MAF. The P1128 is gone but I got the P1126 now - O2S Sensing Rance 1 Cyl 4-6.
Have you found out what your problem was?
Was it O2 sensor?
My car is 1999 Boxster but I believe they are very similar.
Your information will help me a lot. Thanks.
Steve
