Default Bay Area Porsche Repair Shops?

What are some favorite non-OEM repair shops in the Bay Area? Preferably close to 101, between 92 (San Mateo Bridge) and 87 (Guadalupe Parkway, San Jose).

I trust Rennlisters more than Yelpers. Other than the dealer, who do you trust your P-Cars with?

Are any Bay Area shop-owners Rennlist Members?

I swear by Sokol's shop which is a few blocks from my house in SF.
He's a Porsche Master Mechanic formerly from Rector.
I've found him to be less than 1/2 the cost of the dealer.
For example, he did my 4yr/40k service (inc. plugs and brake flush) for $720 vs. $1500 quote from the (st)dealer.

Sokol doesn't do tires, so I had new ones put on recently at Junipero Serra in Daly City which is closer to you. They are less than a mile from the BART stop if that helps you.
They did a great job on the alignment and there were a ton of Porsches there.

Heyer Performance on Old Middlefield in Mountain View
+1000.

Tony Heyer (the owner) has been working on my Porsche cars for many years, and he is the only one I trust. He is very straightforward to deal with, and very experience (thirty-some years) on Porsche cars.

Many years ago, I spent a lot of trial-and-error using different local shops for my Porsche cars, and eventually I went with Heyer Performance.

Give Tony a call (650-962-0930), and feel free to mention my name (Alex, with the Atlas Grey 997.2 GT3, he knows me and my car(s) well.)

Oh, checkout the Newsletter section of its website too! Lots of interesting and informative articles for our different Porsche cars:

With best regards,

The PCA Golden Gate Region website has this compilation of shops in the bay area. I have no experience with any of them.

ADias, Alex: Heyer looks perfect. Thanks so much! I can't wait to check out his shop next week. And additional thanks to Alex for letting me use your name.

Wink: Sokol's is opposite direction from my commute. But thanks for the recommendation!

Heyer in Mountain View is where I'm going for my next service, but also might stop by Modderman down the street.

Though I've never personally used Tony Heyer, he does have a good reputation.

Others that I've had good personal experience with are:

Dave Modderman in Mountain View: http://modderman.com

Don Wise in Campbell: http://donsautowerks.com

Karl.

My vote goes to modderman

I spoke to Heyer about a timing belt and he was selling me on a chain and top end job that would add to $5k. Seriously?

I go to Sokol for maintenance. You kind of have to get used to him...he's crazy busy and gets frustrated a lot (not at me, but in general).

I totally trust him though and he gives it to you straight. He will text you to make sure everything is still good.

I had my PPI done at Moddermans and I wish I lived closer to take my car there.

Darin is a great guy. Only issue is he is in Brentwood. Long drive but hey....you're driving a Porsche. Take a drive.

Master Automotive in the south bay have done a great work my previous '99 Carrera and my current 2011 Targa since new.Wade and Nick are very honest and seem to be straight shooters. I find them to be very knowledgeable when it comes to 911s. Give 'em a try.
