997S special self-adjusting clutch - Bah, Humbug!
In two threads recently I've seen an assertion that the 997 Carrera S has a self-adjusting clutch, but the 997 Carrera doesn't, and this just has me scratching my head because my understanding is that all the clutches since at least the 964 have been essentially self-adjusting.
The 997 Carrera has a hydraulically actuated clutch, with fluid provided from the brake fluid reservoir, just as on the 964, 993, 986, 996, 987.
The "standard" hydraulic clutch is self-adjusting in generally the same way that our hydraulically-actuated brakes are "self adjusting" - as the brake pad or clutch disk wears, the system takes working fluid from (or provides fluid back to) the brake fluid reservoir as needed. There is no need to adjust anything during the service life of the clutch. There certainly wasn't on my 964.
So what is allegedly special about the 997S clutch system?
Urban legend in the making?

I can't speak to the technical details but this assertion does come straight from the 997.1 product brochure:
Being pedantic, it doesn't expressly say that the non-S cars lack a self-adjusting clutch, but that's definitely implied.

So here's a dumb question. Are self adjusting clutch that much better than non-adjusting clutches? and is it a deal breaker for folks looking at early non-S 997s? Thanks all.
