Not sure but I think it means take out the owner's manual and look it up.

The red ! just indicates that there's something important to check on. It could be any of dozens of things ranging in importance from an engine problems (serious) to the fact that you've turned off stability control (trivial).

I'd expect the text display to offer some hint in most cases, or an additional annunciator to be illuminated (like the tire pressure warning light, for example).

Sounds like the central warning light. Have you checked for warning messages in the INFO menu?

As mentioned, as simple as low fuel, or as important as brake pad wear. Should give you details when you start the car up.

Also,

This kind of post scares me. Is there no minimum bar for Porsche ownership? (jka, honest)

The qualification for Porsche ownership is the same for admission to all those exclusive Golf clubs, overpriced schools, and pretty much everything else.....the check cleared.

Could be nothing more than low washer fluid...

But if you aren't sure and can't check this stuff out yourself, you probably want to get it to a service center.

And check on-line for a PDF Owner's Manual - very handy.
