$50 if you do it yourself. I've done it twice now at 40K and 80K miles. Never had the dealer do it.

best to have a friend help with removing the rear bumper cover, and order a few spare push pins incase you break one or two. Have an assortment of 1/4 inch drive tools. Have a good 3/8 torque wrench. My son and I did hour prior 997S in about 2.5 hours. One plug on each side are a bit of a chore because of a muffler bracket giving scant clearance.
If your muffler connectors and bolts are rusty, order new ones, on our no salt exposure car everything came off easy as pie.
Easy if you take your time.
all the best....

Also on the 997.2, that rear plug is not so bad.

I just did the plugs and coil packs on my wife's 997.1 C2S. Removed rear wheels but nothing else. The heat shields will come out sliding them toward the front of the car and angling them a bit. The .2 might be different.

I did the plugs myself on my 997.2. Plenty of write-ups on this forum on how to do so. The procedure is straightforward and not difficult with the proper tools. Save yourself $500 and "get to know" your 997.2 at an intimate level.

Wow.. Heard the .2 is easier than the .1....Wonder if we are taking down mufflers for no reason?

Pete, can you point me to the DIY you used for the 997.1? I also have a C2S and am just short of the 40k mileage mark.

I'd be surprised if there's not one at the top of the 997 Forum list in the DIY index though.

I'll share a tip though. I used 2 short 3/8" extensions which makes the job much easier as there's enough space to slip the spark plug socket with the first short extension on it into the plug tube and then while holding the end of that first one connect the second short extension on, and then connect the ratchet handle or torque wrench. The clearance directly behind the plug access tubes is limited and you can't get a single longer extension into some of the holes. Being able to do it in two segments solves that issue and then gives you the perfect length extension for the ratchet end to be just outside the tubes. Hand start all plugs as you're re-installing them.
