Polished (Back to Bare Metal) 997 Carrera Sport Wheels
Dear RLsters
Does anyone have experience polishing back to bare metal (similar to a chrome finish but not quite) 997 Carrera Sport Wheels - I am thinking about doing it - they are currently black with silver lip..
Any thoughts let me know. Any photos... great!

I have polished the Carrera S II wheels(cast) and the Turbo wheels( forged). The S II wheels were very hard to polish since the casting process can leave pits in the metal. You have to sand the pits more than needed for the surrounding area it creates a lot of work to get flat surfaces. The Turbo wheels are forged and did not have pits. In both cases I did the sanding and initial polishing. I then turned them over to a shop that had a vibratory polishing machine that uses media to do the final levels of polishing. Had them clear coated after polishing. A lot of work but I liked the results.
I believe the Carrera Sport wheels are cast. If they are pitted, be prepared for a lot of work to get them to look nice in a polished state or pay someone a lot of money.

I have a set of forged Champion RS171 wheels for sale that I had polished and clear powdercoated, if the OP or anyone here is interested in superb quality, bright, lightweight wheels.
