Yes, you need to torque the drain plug, and being made of aluminum you don't want to over torque it. The torque value is in the Service Manual. Oh wait, you didn't order one, did you? Hmmm, it's gonna cost you now, Kurt. ... Just messin' with ya.
The tightening torque value for the drain plug is 37 ft-lbs.
Oh, I used the recommended Mobil1 0W40.

Any insights on what torque Value is for casing that houses the oil filter?

As a Porsche guy I'm a bit **** (you think?!)
I have a perfectly level garage and drive. Thus, to get access to beneath the engine I have to get them up a little. I use a pair of floor jacks. Once I get the bolt out and the filter cartridge cover off, I lower the car back down over th used oil collector(s) and eek out the last of the old oil. Then, I jack it back up again to access the bottom of the engine, put things back together, and then clear everything out of the way, drop the car, and then refill with oil.

This is the oil recovery container I have (holds 15qts). I know is hard to tell from photo but would like your thoughts if you think it would be adequate to keep up with the velocity at which the oil drains? Green plug in center is removed to expose "drain" for oil recovery. My concern would be oil might over flow before it can escape down container's "drain".

Worst case I could cut a larger hole but then I'd sacrifice ability to "plug the drain" while transporting for disposal.
Thoughts?

I have that oil container and just changed my oil without any problem catching or holding it. Just make sure you have that center drain open (and the vent)!

Is there a shelf life on this stuff? Thinking about stocking up for the next future oil change!

Burning Brakes
Cleaned out one today, they restock Friday.
I am not aware of a shelf life for syn oil, but I won't buy more than a couple of years worth.
