Ben's not dead! He's moved on to a better life

At my billing rate, you can buy me a nice meal at Mastro's and I'll do your oil change, plus you'll have a tidy sum left over

Perhaps you can have your serviceman simply turn off all alerts. That's what they did for me. No longer do I get any sort of alert that something is due. Been that way for me for several years.

If you mean the service reminder you either have to have it shut off by an authorized P dealer OR buy the Durametric OBDII tool and reset it yourself. It's about 200 bucks IIRC at www.fvd.de.

The tightening torque value for the drain plug is 37 ft-lbs.

Oh, I used the recommended Mobil1 0W40.

Any insights on what torque Value is for casing that houses the oil filter?

Perfect. Thank you

Figured since I have the car up on jack stands, performing some "spring cleaning" (cleaning out radiators & air dams, also installed custom mesh grills), that I should change the oil!

FYI, for those living in North Texas area I just picked up Mobil 1 0W/40 at $4.99 a quart at O'Reiley Auto Parts. Great Deal!

I have a perfectly level garage and drive. Thus, to get access to beneath the engine I have to get them up a little. I use a pair of floor jacks. Once I get the bolt out and the filter cartridge cover off, I lower the car back down over th used oil collector(s) and eek out the last of the old oil. Then, I jack it back up again to access the bottom of the engine, put things back together, and then clear everything out of the way, drop the car, and then refill with oil.
Edgy/ All,

This is the oil recovery container I have (holds 15qts). I know is hard to tell from photo but would like your thoughts if you think it would be adequate to keep up with the velocity at which the oil drains? Green plug in center is removed to expose "drain" for oil recovery. My concern would be oil might over flow before it can escape down container's "drain".

http://www.blitzusa.com/products/oil...s/podp15od.htm

Worst case I could cut a larger hole but then I'd sacrifice ability to "plug the drain" while transporting for disposal.

Thoughts?

I have that oil container and just changed my oil without any problem catching or holding it. Just make sure you have that center drain open (and the vent)!

Put in my zip code and got the same flyer and pricing here, too (Lex, KY). I'll be stopping by there tomorrow to see what their limit is!

Thanks for the feedback on your experience with the same oil collector container. BTW the limit O'Reley has on the special is 24 units per customer.

Is there a shelf life on this stuff? Thinking about stocking up for the next future oil change!

There are 4 stores in my area and they don't seem to be fond of 0w-40 so I am helping them get rid of it

Cleaned out one today, they restock Friday.

I am not aware of a shelf life for syn oil, but I won't buy more than a couple of years worth.
