Checkpoint 8
Anyone know how "Checkpoint 8" comes in the production sequence on a 911? I finally have that date (12 June) and have been told that means that production would be imminent.

Right. Car has finished production. VIN is now available on Dealer e-DCS. This is some sort of factory PDI. If normal delivery (USA etc.), car would now be going to port for ONVESL. Not sure process after production with TD

Three Wheelin'
My car was built on 12/22/05 and got held up at the port for a couple of weeks due to the ship needing servicing (ugh). It was in San Diego on 2/4/06 and at the dealership in Bellingham, WA (1600+ miles) on 2/11/06. I picked up on 2/16/06.
If you apply these calculations to your car, then I'd say you should expect to have your car the week of May 22nd at the latest (early May at the earliest). Like mine, it sounds like your car is running a month ahead of schedule (my original ETA was mid to late March 06).

Thanks, everyone. Will have to dig deeper on this one as we have no VIN (usually assigned by the paint shop stage) and no other details. Driving me NUTS! (I know,--you've all been there already!)

Checkpoint 8 is the final stage of the production sequence. As the name implies this is where the car goes through a final quality inspection before it leaves the factory, and if everything on that long list of items passes inspection, especially the options ordered, it's:
X51 Engine - check
Tip Steering Wheel on a 6 Spd - check (you had to be there)
Special Custom Blue Color - oops! (hope he likes Guards Red)
And after everything checks out the car is out of production and rolled outside to wait in the queue for the next boat out. That's how I understand it anyway.

thanks, again for your own observations. My original delivery was supposed to be 12 May for the Grand Tour but the special color thing caused them to slip it. Anyone know how many days between paint shop and Check point 8?
