one more ? if i may? are they as "loud" as say, the r888's which growl non stop? i have gotten used to the noise but i prefer to hear the car and what it's "doing" and the growl of the r888's actually interferes and if something IS amiss? you'd barely even know it they're that loud. seriously.
( sorry third reef ) i realize your thread is about ps'2's? but i know what they sound like.. nothing! which is perfect.. lol

so it should work also if i just went for two sets of rears(?) as long as they are two separate purchases..... i'll try that.. thanks.

That said, I purchased a set of PS2's for a set of street use/wheels and was surprised at how quiet the car was. I'd never run a new street tire since owning it and the reason for buying them wasn't noise.
I bought PS2 to run for longer drives where I may encounter rain/water over the road. If the NT-01's are running out of tread, right where they get good for the track, they are dangerous in water. Fly around a corner on some near slicks and have water running over an off camber turn from dude washing car up the hill and you may drift a little, or, a lot.
That said...I may end up with 2 sets of Nt-01's on different wheels, newer set for the street, worn ones for track days. I do a lot of lunch hour/afternoon track days in the summer here(brief) and swappng wheels gets old.
Best solution I've found to the tire dilema is other cars...

I've never run 888 but from what's I've read the Nitto's are quieter.

but if i drove on highways more often, then i'd had to go with proper ps2 or a p zero for the noise factor alone.
I'm anxious to try the nitto's though, especially at that price! thx for your input.
add: got two for 563 delivered so thats good enough of a deal. thx for the tip.

yeah, same with the r888's ( scary hydroplaning in water! ) but honestly, for as few miles as i get on rears and the price? they (r888) make more sense than running ps2's which for years were my main choice. but at $540 per copy the michi's just don't deliver any discernible difference in grip once scrubbed vs the cheap toyo's at $275 per, at least not for my canyon driving. as far as grip/sticking factor? the r888 is not half bad and yet still half price..

agree, they don't care as there are only 27 of us that do. i'm anxious to see if the nt01's are any quieter than the toyo's. our tire choice considerations would seem to be particularly impacted by the types of driving one primarily engages in, given the daily dual purpose nature, and capabilities of the car.
the "noise" is really is my only complaint with r888. that said, if i DD'd this car i could not live with the growl of the r888 and I've never heard or read of the nitto sounding this way..so I'm hopeful. but r888 has to be heard to be believed first few hundred miles you'd swear a wheel bearing has gone bad lol. its that loud.

after install i then went back to eBay to see if i could get another pair for 563 delivered only to find that are now 626 a pair. next best deal was 692. now that's what i call inflation. i'm guessing that'll be the last good tire deal this year.
the pattern on the nt01 looked like it'll last about 3 months. it's funny i looked at em and tried to get more from my phone eBay app.. too late lol. +30 more each, in 5 days argh.. good tire for 275 each though...
