just looked at the OP's first pic.

metal. ( plastic?! ) great. maybe an old bottle top of M1 made it thru the system!

oh sure. not to be unnecessarily alarmist, but. right.

nothing to see HERE(?!) omfg. sheesh.

Lots of time its only plating from chains etc! In such small quantities as in this example its not an issue.

Just emailed Cantrell Motorsports about this with pics, and they assured me that it is completely normal and nothing to worry about.

metal does not belong in your oil filter. say what you will about worry ( don't worry ).

Well, actually, that engine was already gone at that point. By the time an IMS bearing gets to that point in an M96, just swapping out the bearing ain't going to fix it. It needs a complete tear down to clean up the debris.

Thankfully not a problem we have to deal with in the 996tt!
