Default GT2 Fender Height measurement

I have put coilers on my car and want to set it at GT2 height for a baseline. The catch is I cannot find a fender measurement for GT2. I am running 18x11 and 18x8.5 wheels with GT2 size tired on them.

Can anyone get me close? Thanks!

PS - yes I have been searching for weeks, as I also liked at alignment settings, etc.

Here is the diagram that shows where you need to measure at...

There is a small issue though, the position of the measuring point on the rear I believe on GT2 is slightly different so the measurement will have to be adjusted by a few milimeters. I believe John (Powdrhound) had given me the number and I will look for it. Maybe he will chime in. (sorry for the multi posts, sometimes my phone won't let me edit)

Due to the rubber bushings, TT rear subframe is 7mm lower on the TT compared to GT2/3. With all else being equal, in the rear a TT will measure 7mm lower at the factory measurement point than a GT2 at the same ride heights. For example, a TT at 130mm will be the same ride height as a GT2 at 137mm. Keep in mind tire height will effect the measurement. Stock GT2 tires are 25.5/25.5"

Don't know about fender heights as those are not very good measuring points. I'm at 102mm front and 123mm rear with 25.4" front and 26.0" rear tall tires. This is based off a GT2 measurement. On a TT this would be 102/116.

Thanks John! Yes, so if you want GT2 height (assuming you have 25.5" overall tire diameter) then you should be shooting for:

118-123mm front

126-131mm rear

Measuring at those specific measuring points in the diagram above.

Just went out and measured mine, when corrected for the additional 1/2" of overall diameter I am running 26" overall vs 25.5" GT2 diameter. If I was on 25.5" overall diameter my car would be at about 127mm front and 121mm rear.

Like I mentioned by PM, with the H&R Coilovers up front I still have about 12 threads (.5 inch or so worth of threads) from the lowest setting.

In the rear, I'm high up on the adjustment but not maxed out.

That is precisely correct when measuring on a 996TT

You want a bit of rake in the chassis. Generally 20mm front to rear rake is a good number to shoot for. With the H&R coils, you will be close to the bottom of the adjustment range in the front or at the top of the adjustment range in the rear.

Great info here, esp (as usual) powdrhound!

Nailed it too. I am struggling with an H&R Street kit. Rear is topped out at their max setting, front is all the way to the bottom of the threads (below their min setting). Set like this the car is tail down. Also, set like this the rear feels VERY soft and under spring vs its damping. By this i mean you hit a dip on the highway, the rear compresses a lot, then rebounds......like the springs are not offering enough support, which means on a dip they compress way too far and the shock cannot keep up. Mean while the front feels amazing (smooth, supple, well damped). I have tried adding spring rubbers to the rear, which helps the ride and adds a little ride height...it gets me very close to the right ft/rr stance......but it is still not "right" or like the front.

I asked for the ride height info so I could check is vs my car and see if I could improve the ride.

Something is off... I am on H&R Street coilovers as well and GT2 alignment specs and the car feels amazing!! front and rear.

I just jacked up the rear a few minutes ago so that I could take a pic for you. I still have maybe 10 threads or so in the rear that I could still raise the rear a bit and I did not add any rubbers or anything at all, just what the kit came with.

In front you can also see that I still have like 1/2"+ or so that I could still lower the front.

Your rake is the wrong way around. Duc Hunter is probably trying to get the front lower than rear.

Correct, and this is by choice as well as the beauty of having adjustable ride height... my car is full time street so I wanted a bit more clearance up front. The point is that I still have room to lower the front more and/or raise the rear.

Duc Hunter, try and measure from the points in the diagram. See if you can get close to:

118-123mm front

126-131mm rear

You should be able to get there or very close. If I mount my stock 18" wheels I'm within 4mm front and 5mm rear of gt2 height with adjustment range still left in the coilovers. Not sure why you needed to add rubbers or any other parts. I didn't have to.

If there is any other pic or measurement that might help. Just let me know
