Default Chasing a 991 TTS at Laguna

I thought I'd share a video of a fun session I had at Laguna Seca a few weeks ago with a good driver in a 991 TTS. We had the track pretty much to ourselves so it's a good comparison of the capabilities of the two cars. The old 996 represented pretty well vs. the new machinery. Man, that 991 has got a lot of pull on the straightaways though!

Is your car stock? If not, what engine mods, tires, brakes, suspension, and weight are you running?

Nice driving. Looked fun! What mods are on your car? Nice to see the 996TT still be able to hold its own against some really formidable competition!

It's a mostly stock X50. I have an Evoms chip, front RSS LCAs, and NT01s on hollow twist wheels for the track. Otherwise stock suspension. Brakes are stock with track pads and GT2 brake ducts all around (barely adequate). No weight reductions.

I think your driving deserves a lot of the credit. A 991TTS should walk away from a mostly stock 996TT X50 pretty easily.

I'm impressed, your car was hanging in there way better than I expected on the straights, awesome. How much power are you running? 530-550?

I would love to see how it would go down if the 991 TT was manual.

Not sure why the YouTube is not working for everyone. Here is the direct URL: youtu.be/kZkfAcdDYoI

Nice run. After watching I felt my hands involuntarily reaching for a gear shifter.

Sweet! That was fun to watch. Glad you took the line you did heading into the corkscrew after overtaking the car on an offline. I felt it about to get ugly if you tried to get back on the proper line before the screw!

Glad folks have enjoyed the video. It's great when it all comes together with an evenly matched driver you can trust to dice with and enough room to do so. By this point the other cars knew to make way when the Porsches came though . Kudos to the socal Alfa Romeo club for running a clean, fast, fun event.
