Default Headlight Restoration: Who'd you recommend?

Similar to my question on Calipers. Time to freshen up my headlights.

not interested in a DYI. Anyone have someone they really recommend with their Turbo headlights?

Thanks in advance!

Where are you located? Typically this is something a local detailing shop can do.

I used Dr. Headlight in the Denver metro area when I had this done to my 996 C4S. They did a good job, and they come out to your home or business to do the work.

My buddy did mine. He is a detailer there in N Fl. When he was done they looked perfect. He then put on Opti-Lens so they would stay that way (it ads back the UV protection). This is the same as Opticoat Pro, and Opti-Lens is available on Amazon. A little goes a LONG way! They still look stunning. Without adding back a GOOD UV coating some how they will simply fade again. I am about to add Xpel headlight protectors on them, to prevent stone damage and add ANOTHER layer of UV protection.

bugey - Where are you located?

My buddy says he will do them remote. For headlights that are not great, like mine were, he wants $250 per set, plus shipping. He should have pictures of mine his website.

Bugeyemilo, let me know who you end up using. I've toyed with the idea of doing it myself.

My turbos going to be down for a while getting a new bumper, d'oh, so I may get the headlights done too.

$250 is highway robbery. Most places are $50-100 at the most and thats a lot for the hour it takes to do them.

ok.. do you have any recommendations for a place that'll do them for 100? that has good reviews and good experience working on expensive stuff like turbo headlights?

Real helpful here. Love the polite people out here sometimes.

It all depends on how bad they are. If they are just lightly brown and not cracked & crazed it could be far less than $250. Mine were BADLY cracked and crazed. It took almost 2 hours to do them. The headlight Dr in my area refused to do them because of the cost of replacing them if he messed them up, and he said he could not fix them. My friend did and they look amazing. His wifes SUV had worse lights than my 996TT, and he cleaned them up with the same process.....and a year later they still look perfect. That car is outside in Fl 24x7.

My only thought was helping folks. Contact him through his site, see what he says and make you own decisions. My experience, and those of many in this area, have been very positive. If you think he is too high, go else where. No big deal.

Highway robbery is $3,500 per unit for a factory replacement.....and that this is one of the few headlights Hella does not make under their own lable for much less than a factory. Especially when you consider how many 996.2 Carrera's there are out in the world, who have our same headlights. Plus all the 996TT and GT2's.

for a friend's 996tt I found a local guy in online classified and he came and did it in about 20 mins and charged $30. They came out great as well.
