Default New clutch - question about pedal free play

Hi Everyone,
So I got my car in August, and ever since had an issue getting into first gear.
The ppi at the dealer didn't pick it up. Eventually I had it diagnosed as requiring either a synchro or gear being worn. Just had the transmisison repaired and they fixed the issue (after repacing 1st and 2nd gear and both synchros). I had the clutch disk, pressure plate and throw-out bearing replaced all with new stock parts at the time as well as the flywheel machined flat on the advice of my mechanic.

I also replaced the accumulator a few months ago and have been keeping an eye on the front reservoir and the level has been steady with no leaking.

So my issue when I picked up the car is that the clutch pedal now engages almost right off the floor and at the top there is much more free play that I notice than before. I'd guess it's about 3/4" - 1" of travel. Shifting into first is perfect (as I would have expected).

Is this normal after putting in a brand new clutch? Is there something they missed?

Thanks in advance!

Does the system have to be opened up when changing the clutch?

depends on whether the shop removed the line to the slave or removed the slave from the trans when taking the clutch out

I had the exact same symptoms after replacing the accumulator and slave. Required bleeding the system more thoroughly, and was fine after that.
