This modification needs engine out?
seems to be quite cheap in price for the hardware and benefits are obvious😝

I just did this job a month or so back. It really depends on your skill level as a mechanic. It's really tight but it's not the worst job Ive ever done. If you order the IPD plenum, make sure you back out the brass fittings and reinstall using teflon tape or something. There were a few examples that people reported leaking around the fittings.

its the # 1 cause of boost leaks after swapping the plenum out.
Double check all the fittings/vacum lines etc.
My shop did it with motor in-although they said it was a royal pain even for three skilled techs. U need multiple hands to get it done.
Good luck.

i can say without equivocation that the IPD plenum is not a waste of time OR money. but it IS a bit*h to install. it took two of us and one hammer to smack it into place. very tight fit just working in what little access the engine comp allows. really.

When combined with the 74mm TB it's definitely not a waste of time or money.
haha, it wasnt that big of a pain for me but I spaced the job out over 2 days. Took everything apart one day and walked away. Reinstalled everything the next day.
Just my 2 cents, though, pull up the vacuum line diagram and replace every one-way valve that runs in that system. I did and am thankful i did.
Plus, zip tie every connection you see. Chances are, you wont have the same opportunity to get back in there any time soon.

^ that choice is better made when taking into account the application and usage of the car. mine is a 68 ipd paired w 16/24 turbos and gains are highly noticeable, primarily mid-range tq. the 74 tb and plenum would introduce the potential for momentary "bog" as i live in mid-range. in other words, it would tend to mitigate that fast spool of the 16/24's and my hillbilly habitat.
