Default Trunk and engine compartment lights

Are the trunk and engine compartment lights controlled by a contact switch or a mercury switch? My engine compartment light won't go off. Where is the adjustment?

If the front trunk is not shut completely the rear trunk light will turn on.

Ahh, interesting. What indicates the front trunk is closed.

Than the rear trunk light would not be on.

My lights turn off after a time. I noticed this when I had the frunk open while charging the battery.

Sorry, let me clarify. My question is what is the switching mechanism that turns the lights on or off. Some vehicles use a mercury switch and some use a contact switch, which is usually mounted in the gutter where the hood comes down. I can't see a switching mechanism that turns the light off when the hood is shut.

switch is in/attached to the latch you can use a screw driver to simulate the hood closed and the light goes off
