you can safely pressure wash the engine/engine bay...the air filter housing has a drain and should quickly drain itself of any water...

When I wash my Turbo I am careful to avoid flooding the engine compartment lid with water.
After you wash the car you really should start the engine and let it idle while the belt/accessory drive hardware dries. If these are wet and they will be the belt can slip and you'll see the battery volt meter reading low. You might even hear a faint chirp as the belt grabs then slips again as the hardware sheds water.
With a bit of idling the belt/drive hardware wil dry and the volt meter reading will climb to well over 13V.
Then take the car for a nice drive to get the engine fully up to temperature and keep it there for a while. Be sure to use the brakes hard enough to throughly dry the brakes or they'lll rust up something fierce.

Next time you wash the car take an empty garbage bag and place it over the engine under the decklid. Remove it after washing the car. Keeps most water off the engine. Simple.

Lol - you guys act like these cars will blow up if they get wet. The engine compartment is obviously open to the elements to some degree - I can only wonder what you guys do if you are on a drive and it starts to rain.

Immediately find a parking garage and wait it out whilst breathing purified air.
