Default LED rear tail lights upgrades for a 2003 996?

I like the new look of the GTRS tail lights and most of the 14-16 clear lights. Is it possible to get that installed on a 2003 Turbo 996? When looking on ebay it seemed like 1) the newer tail light was a little wider 2) simply said not compatible ...anyone have any luck when modernizing their 996? Please let me know.

Only leds, I've seen are the older looking ones that have round bulbs and look horrible. Unfortunately the tail light design has to fit the widebody 996 and there are not many options.

I'm a few miles North of you - you're welcome to come look at my Del Rey Customs LEDs.

Several of us have the DelRay Customs LED taillights. I've had mine for a little over a year and really cannot imagine ever swapping the stockers back in.

+3 on the delrays. i think the improvement is vast and far better looking, and the backup lights are incredibly bright. this is a much "safer" upgrade also, as one stab of the led tails, and any tailgater backs off

not so w/ the dingy oems.

+ 4 on the Delrays. I need to take a pic at night. The lights are VERY bright.

Did Delray fix the individual led failing issue. I remember someone saying that after a year several leds went out? Asking because i really like the more modern look and have been waiting to buy.

That was what I understood before I bought mine - that the issue was resolved. I have had mine over a year and all work perfectly

For folks that have bought these; is everyone doing the third brake light strip in LED from DRC as well? Or just the taillights?

I bought Dectane/Depo LED sidemarkers but haven't yet bought the 3rd brake light. I plan to soon. I think they are a really tight fit to install the 3rd brake light in LED.

delray replaced BOTH of my tails last year as both had bulbs fail. no issues since. i got probably one of the very first shipments that came in. 2nd pair, so far so good but then i try not to hit the brakes, or drive at night lol.

i got my 3rd center led tail years ago from a euro supplier. never an issue.

3rd tail light yes. No issues with any bulbs. Getting the 3rd tail light in was difficult

Did you have to remove the rear crash bar to delete the bumperettes? Took scrolling through this post a few times to finally realize what looked different but subtle on your car..

Crash bar stays in place along with the telescoping mounts. The bumperettes and their mounts are simply removed from the bumper support/crash bar. They are riveted on and are simply drilled out in order to remove them.
