New 996 Turbo Owner

Turbodan: They said they did work to the coolant hoses before they took the motor out. Not sure how extensive, though . They cleaned all the radiators, some work on the hoses (like I said, not sure how much), new plugs, oil change, wet buffed the headlamp lenses, and a 4 wheel alignment. All the stuff they did on that list was done before I pulled the trigger on the car, except the clutch, while it was for sale at the dealer. I made the clutch part of our deal so - engine out .

996TT are great machines. Enjoy the drive home. I've stumbled through Williston and Tioga a few times in the past. It's a great part of the country in June to September.

Turbodan: I'll have to ask about the coil packs. And of course I'll pointer 'er straight before squeezing the go lever. Do I look like a BMW driver?
Theporscheguy: I haven't been to Tioga, yet, but just tried my first venture to Williston. Williston is nice! My area has fewer trees than Williston, but there is a lot of interesting country between New Town, ND and Washington DC Metro Area! I'm looking forward to it
Olemiss540: I'm sure you meant the "upright" position. I agree with you. Big reason I went with a 996turbo instead of a Corvette Z06 is the backseats. Not sure that the 15lbs (on a bad day) for the back seats flipped down really makes thaaaaaat much of a different for body roll at my level of driving.
Cheers,

Unless someone is riding in the back seat, I keep the rear seatbacks down because:
1. It allows me to better enjoy the sound of my Europipe Stage II Loud exhaust (the raised position of the seatbacks tends to change the sound delevery a bit).
2. The lowered seaatbacks provide a flat shelf that can be used to set items on.
3. The lowered seatbacks provide some cover for things that are set on the rear seats, giving a cleaner/"out of the way" look.

CLSUND1:
Thanks. I'm really looking forward to it. T-2ish days 'till I hop on the plane and meet my new-to-me car!
Hosewater2:
Replied in private messages. But basically, it was a little rough (not too too bad) cosmetically. The deal breaker for me was V-Dubs and More (the euro-shop in Helena) refused to even let it on their premises for "liability reasons" because they have seen the car before. They never said what was wrong with it but they said I should walk away. The car ran strong, sounded healthy, didn't smell, etc etc but that scared me away. If you can get a PPI or some sort of warranty from the Subaru dealer, go for it
Dock:
Not sure if I'll get an exhaust for it. Had a car with a loud exhaust and loved it but was hoping I could fly under the radar a little more than when I was in college. Who knows... maybe the bug will bite me again and I'll just be able to help myself, later! Interesting take on use of lowered back seats. Definitely something to think about.
Cheers,
Nick
