Default front hood release and lock

So the front hood would not open by remote, I pulled the cable beside the passenger headlight, lubed the mechanism, the cable seems to work by remote now but the hood will not lock shut now. It only presses down and pops up again (still first position holds it down but open about an inch or so. Any ideas?
I have tried searching but found nothing except maybe the mechanism needs to be changed out but it should still lock down.

Are the hood bumpers adjusted correctly? Is the latch itself adjusted correctly?

I believe the bumpers and hood are adjusted correctly, I think it is an issue with either the mechanism or the actuator. probably the actuator with the cable, the white piece.

I think I ran into a similar issue once, the motor ended up being the problem. It was a little lazy and didn't properly pull the cable. 99651112700

That is just a guess, I believe I was able to trick it a bit as well by adjusting the latch but ultimately it needed the motor replaced.

You may have a different issue going on but for about $70 its worth a try.

I cleaned out the mechanism as there was some dirt lodged in there and now it works properly. Thanks for the suggestions.
