Having spent six months looking for a good turbo in the second half of 2014, I am pretty certain that your deal is more of an anomaly than the norm. I never saw anything close to that in the CA/AZ/NV market. I got close to buying a 25K black/black X50 car, but he was firm @ $50K...and I didn't like the loud AP exhaust and black just wasn't my first or second color choice.

You got a smokin, smokin' deal.

Well, in the event that anyone is still following this--and a personal peeve of mine is when thread starters leave cliffhangers and don't tell everyone what they did--I decided to go ahead and push the budget a little bit and just recently purchased a 997.1TT instead. I was willing to buy the "right" 996TT, but it seemed everything I was seriously interested in was already in the mid-low $50K range. Those of you that bought your 996TTs back in 2012 and 2013 got great deals. Now, in mid-late 2016, people have figured out what deals the cars are, and the prices have crept up. I started getting in that zone where I was saying "well, for a little more, maybe I can get a 997..." and started shopping. The rest is history. My bone stock 2008 TT should be delivered to me next week.

Thank you all so much for commenting and offering your advice and thoughts. I still think the 996TT is an awesome car, and it appears the market is correcting itself accordingly.
