so the leakdown test/block test if i dont buy the car is $1179. Again its very low on the rev range 2, and its been 25 hrs since the last one and the car is tuned by kevin at UMW so should have a raised redline which could be the last rev range 2. Im undecided as to if i should get the leakdown test or not due to those factors

I can't stress how important it is to actually listen to the engine from dead cold start as it idles and warms up.
After some minutes of idle time then you get a 15 mile test ride followed by a 15 mile test drive -- over the same route -- which gives you a chance to experience the car in its natural environment, with the engine running and on the road being used as you intend to use the car.
The idle and test ride then test drive gives the DME time to perform a series of readiness monitor tests and if any errors are detected to turn on the CEL and log one or more error codes.
The DME constantly monitors each and every cylinder's performance to ensure each and every cylinder is operating within spec. It is an ongoing compression test and leak down test under real world conditions.
Afterwards a thorough check is made for any leak sign.

When we went for the test drive everything ran well. Did about 15 min worth of driving as it was rush hour, and car ran well. idle was smooth, engine sounded good from a cold start. Only thing the car has is a seat belt light on (parkhaus owner said he was putting in a new seat belt buckle to solve the issue). I'm going to talk the owner into letting me take it to an independent shop for a ppi (that will give me plenty of time to drive it for the DME to cycle as i live 30 miles from where i'm buying the car) going to ask to be given a 7 day window due to work schedule

how does he get to 1100 for a leakdown? and since he is selling it would he be honest about the leakdown? take it to the other shop for ppi and reach out to Kevin and ask him if knows anything about the car. does it have service history?

the car literally has a binder of everything the previous owner did (the owner of parkhaus has only owned it since the end of april, he wanted to turn it into a track car but decided it was to nice to mess up). every receipt is in the binder, the sticker from the OEM parts with the part numbers were saved. Engine and trans out rebuild by LMN motorsports to handle more power, gt3 brakes, gt3 cup car differential, gt2 rwd conversion, the list goes on. Kevin's ZC turbos. I sent kevin a message on here to see what he exactly did to the car. and he said its about 7.5 hours for the leakdown and compression test. so they are probably around 125-130 an hour plus shop supplies and taxes

I'm trying to, i mean with all the documented work through LMN motorsports, and the way it drives i think i'm going to def. scoop it up on thursday but i do want to arrange with the owner to do an independent PPI from a shop in broward. I just wouldnt be able to arrange that until next week. So would have in the bill of sale a 1 week period where i could get a PPI and if the results are really bad then return the car.

I would not even consider buying unless another quality shop did an inspection, the description you give is the fox guarding the hen house. There are many other very nice 996tts to pick from. don't get fixated.

So I had a shop called foreign affairs motorsports do a ppi on the black one on Wed and everything checked out good. Went by Thurs morning and delivered the checks so now the waiting game for the checks to clear so I expect to get the car Tues or Wed. Super stoked on it. Will post pics when I get it and also after I have my friend do a paint correction and ceramic coat it.

Yeah, PCA is awesome. I joined back when I got my CTT. If you live down in South Florida you would be in Gold Coast Region, super well organized and tons of activities all year.
Also, not sure if you have heard of it but there is an event down here in Miami called Das Renn Treffen in March...I was there last year and loved every second of it!! Super well organized and just a tremendous day.

Damn that looks awesome I'll def have to go this March, and that blue race one is at the dealer I'm buying this car from parkhaus1 it's in their showroom and that event looks like it's reallly close to their dealership. I'll talk to them about the event and will join pca after I have the car.
Edit. Are you from down here in south Florida?
