pictures 1 and 2 are what is in my car


is it correct that picture 3 is what should be in my car?



is there anyway to go backward? - any reason to? (can only imagine resale, not sure it is worth it)

You have an aftermarket stereo, but the third picture is not standard equipment on a 2004 with Nav.

I went from this . . .



To this, now I have HD radio, blu-tooth, hands free calling, better nav, Sirius and much better sound. I'm saving the factory unit just in case I ever sell the car and the new owner want's to go back to original. My installer didn't cut any wires or drill any holes.

Thanks wross - if i understand you correctly, my set up is stock for 2004 996 with nav (ie the size of and placement of the radio/nav screen and climate control) but just that the radio unit itself is after market

do i have that right?

Thanks OHB - looks like a prior owner did something similar, but unfortunately the old unit is not with the car
