New UMW K16 ZC turbos
Happy Belated Birthday Kevin!
I figured it is about time to share some initial thoughts on the turbos Kevin did for me this winter while my car was apart for a transmission rebuild. What started as "I'll take a set" at the end of last summer after I'd gotten used to the power of the car, turned into an extensive "while I'm at it"...
ZC turbos+injectors+ECU+fuel sytem, Milltek w/100 cel cats, UMW LWFW/Clutch Kit, Evoms intake, 964RS engine mounts, 997 trans mount, Cup Cables w/GT3 shifter, all new water hoses on car and engine, pinned engine, intake manifold hoses, zip tied all new vacuum lines/check valves/hoses, trans cooler, 997.2ICs...forgetting something I'm sure...
Last week I put over 500 miles on the car after getting it running Monday morning. Immediately I went for emissions check and tabs, was surprised to have passed with only 3 warm up sessions on the lift to check for leaks (none, couldn't believe it!) a break-in tune that I'd imagine is running richer than typical(Kevin?), and 40 miles of driving before they plugged into the car for testing.
I went about the break-in process and even with .5 or less boost realized this is going to be a different car in a very good way. The power band is moved way lower and the car comes alive almost instantly like a big V-8 does. At 2,000 rpm's, get ready for blast off with these turbos. In the first couple hundred miles I couldn't press the throttle more than an inch or boost would have gone too high. Now I'm doing some short bursts into .9 - 1.1 and glad to have switched in GT2 gearing so there is a little time to shift. I haven't held it down enough yet to see where the power runs out, at 5,500 it is pulling like mad.
Later this week I'll have enough miles and some logs to Kevin so I can feel good about really pushing the performance. As it sits now, the car is transformed with the ability to squirt instantly versus waiting a sec or two for the lag to go away. Tight corners are now able to be launched out of rather than waiting to get on boost. Thanks a bunch Kevin, and a couple others out there who told me to "just do it", "you'll be glad", etc...

One worthwhile update on the ZC swap is that the 2015/16 Z06 can't get away from me now at the track
There were a pair of them this week at a lapping day, one I could pass, the other driven by a guy graduated from his C5 Z06 that was not having that. Another nice part is I wasn't forced to pit after just 3-5 laps because of the overheating issues that are apparently real on this vette. I was still pulling over 1bar in the heat late in the afternoon after running several sessions, they were parked with hoods up after each short run. Car had more left in it than me and the logs showed very minimal timing getting pulled thanks to Kevin's tuning combo with GT2 ICs and 100 octane.
This combined with a 991 turbo S and 991 gt3 driver asking me if my 03 996 is an x50 car(it was), make the time and effort spent on the UMW system all the better.

The whole process was completely error/surprise free.
Kevin knows his system inside out and everything he said I should do or would need to do came true. I really doubt there are many tuning experiences involving as many changes at one time that go so smooth. The good experience I've had has been a result of Kevin.

I run Evoms turbo tubes & a stock intake w/MAF and no issues.
The whole process was completely error/surprise free.
