PSA: You're the reason 996TTs are so cheap
Ok this is half joke, half serious. I feel that owners of our cars underrate them just like those who have never driven one do. I've seen countless post where owners of the car are advising that $30k-$40k is acceptable.
Have more faith in the platform, if we all collectively agree that our cars should be worth more then they will bring what they are actually worth. You'll have to play the price-demand elasticity, but staying about $15K below similar mile '07 997.1TTs seems reasonable to me.
I think there is a legal term for this in the business and investing world, but we are not in that world :evil grin:
Ok, /rant

There is some truth in that.
Of course this "Buy the cheapest 996 Turbo" forum doesn't help any. It seems that for many people the 996 Turbo has become the ***** of the Porsche lineup, where the objective is to get in it as cheap as possible, have your way with it (modify it/track it/gut it, and/or generally beat the crap out of it) with the objective of just selling it after a relatively short period of ownership.

i'm fairly certain I'm the only one that is responsible for bringing the market down with my amateur valuations and measure of their collective monetary worth..
yet, they'll still have have to try and extract mine from my cold dead hands.

Atrox I'm better looking, well if you squint a bit. One of the reasons I am moving on is because of the way the forum has deteriorated into nothing more than how can I squeeze my budget far enough to get into a 996tt. The car suffers and as noted by Dock usually switch hands fairly quickly. I really never thought the attitude about our cars would reach the low that they have in the past year with owners while the public has awaken and realized what a great looking and performing car the 996tt is= and is now much more sought after. I have quite a few cars but bought the 996tt mainly to be a part of something bigger and to chat with like minded enthusiast but that isn't the case here any longer and more than often just a big disagreement in outlooks. A lot of great guys here but most of them as noted are now quiet= maybe others should be asking why.

w t f are you guys all still talking about. as noted above the rest of the world doesn't give one sh*t about a grand in "perceived value" either way, on this old model porsche!
get over it. it's a CAR. ..and one being discussed on a website forum + wow factor = no one cares. LOL

Every high performance car that depreciate enough goes through this, and it really is sad.
BMW M, Audi RS and AMG goes through the same thing, young buyers trying to get into a car which they later on don't take care of, they just wanna be able to say that they own this and that but honestly, they have no clue whatsoever.
