Default Looking for a 996 turbo...

I've read all the stickies/how to's/buying guides, etc... Owned a NA 996 for a bit now and realized I really like the car but would love it with a bit more power... ok a lot more power. So I'm on the hunt for a 996tt... preferably white but I'm open to others. I can't post a WTB ad in the for sale section so here I am hoping one of you knows of a decent one for sale. I'm ok with high mileage as long as the car has been taken care of. I'd rather buy from a private party than a dealer if possible.

Thanks in advance.

6sp/tip
Coupe/cab
Stock/modded
What's high mileage to you?
Budget

White tt's are hard to come by, but they are out there.

There's a nice white tip on auto trader but it has the wood grain interior.

We all obsess so even though we own one we constantly check the classifieds.

Rather a stick but I'll take a tip.
Don't care about coupe/cab
100k+ is high to me but I'm ok with higher if taken care of.
30-40k is budget.

Been scouring ebay/autotrader/craigslist for awhile now with nothing good of it yet.

Yellow is the one color I can't do. Sorry man but I appreciate the offer.

How did it end up with a salvage title?

You should really take a long drive in a Tip before you commit. They are not for everyone.

Also cabs are all cool and open air, i love the feeling. But in a car with close to 500hp that can go 194mph, i am uncomfortable not having a roll bar and harnesses. Some people never go there, in reality or their minds. Cabs just are not for me.

I've driven a couple tips... and while I'd much rather have the 6 speed it's just not a deal breaker for me. I'm a bad step away from a knee replacement surgery anyway (left knee) so in the long run it might be better.
As for the cab/coupe... I have a cab now and it has its pluses... but 99% of the time I'd rather be in a coupe.

For a white TT have funds available and be ready to jump and have it shipped or fly out to drive back. I wanted white or red both of which command a few dollars more than other colors. I lurked and lurked and found a white on black 6 speed for under market value, I contacted the guy and somehow was the first in line and got it.
Good luck, also I've learned driving the white Turbo everyone thinks it's a 60k + supercar.

Interesting full 997 conversion, made me do a double take. I have come to accept and actually like the 996 turbo headlights.

Cabs have built in roll bars that extend if necessary. Search the forum for lots of info, pics and real life experiment. Also the A pillar windshield frame is stronger for protection. Loved driving my cab tip with the top down on a beautiful NC winding road today. 194mph in my mind only though...

^ Excellent advice.

Take your time. Learn the market. If you can stand it, wait until after Labor Day to buy. There will be a bunch of cars that will come on the market from guys in the north who decide not to store their cars for another winter.

Look for one being sold by an individual. One sold on BaT this afternoon that was a nice buy.

First of, Go Cubs Go! Another great year in the making!

If tip isn't a deal breaker you will be able to get a nicer cleaner car for the same money as the tips trade for less than manuals.

Some good deals can be had on tips and cabs as they trade for less. Good luck in your search!
