My retaining screws are totally different, they are torx wide head screws that require no washers.

They are probably like the OP on the first page. Seems the 996tt came with two different tails screws. Most people have a torx wide head screw. My 2001 has only a washer and phillips head like couple posts above.... Doubt it matters.

Got mine, fit isn't that good. The trunk touches at the bottom. Made some modifications to the back but still overall too thick for my liking. It's 1/8" think molding, should be 1/4". I gave Clint some feedback, might try the metal ones if they're thinner.

Doesnt touch my lid fits pretty good

There are adjustment screws on the light mounts. Loosen them and slide the mount down a little to provide more clearance.

Yeah... if you want your lights to sit 1/2" below the body line.

That adjustment is for adjusting the light body itself. This is just a piece of plastic that sits on top of the original mount, which is sitting on the body, all you'd be doing is lowering the tail light.

BTW.. I actually have these and when I installed them have the same issue.
