Default STP Fuel Additive for TT ?

Any suggestions which is the best STP fuel additive for the TT, I have recently started adding 2 stroke oil in the tank for my Turbo Diesel Land Rover 3 and its a great improvement

What improved by adding 2 stroke oil to your land rover?

Try a can of BG 44K instead.

This stuff is good for fuel systems and you can find it at NAPA

2 stroke oil in the gas does wonders for rotary motors by reducing carbon buildup in the apex seals. brought the MPG up by 10-15% in my RX8 over a period of 5K miles. Many 4 stroke dirt bike owners run it in their bikes to provide longer life for rings and top end. 300:1 is the normal mix for 4 strokes. Not sure how it would affect a 996 TT. I have heard that it can cause an older car to start using oil as it removes some of the carbon buildup in the rings and lets the oil through easier. Also heard it makes the rings seal better with the little extra oil that resides in the compression rings

thks guys, would add that for diesel at least, the 2 stroke oil has to be semi synthetic or mineral, fully synthetic is a no go

I've used the techron additives around oil change. I let fuel tank get almost empty add the techron and take the car to WOT a few times. I then do an oil change.

I have used this in all my cars and it gets you more miles per tank. And it is not expensive: http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/

Try this if you don't have a pump without corn syrup or 101 unleaded nearby:

Atrox, the interesting thing is my MPG gauge did not show an impressive gain but I know I got an extra 40 miles out of a tankful on my DD.

NO STP additive.

If you feel you need something run a bottle of Techron through the engine. Use as directed on the instructions. If you feel an improvement use another bottle. After you use up the fuel with the Techron added to it change the oil/filter.

As I have covered before some time back I switched from Shell V-Power to Chevron 91 in both my 2002 Boxster and my 2003 Turbo. After a few tanks of Chevron gasoline my 2002 Boxster engine felt better. Smoother running more torque off idle, just a nice pick up in performance. Nothing earthshattering but noticeable and welcome.

The Turbo? No change. I suspect the Turbo engine is just a cleaner running engine and doesn't need fuel system engine deposit cleaner.

But try a bottle of Techron, if you want.

If not save your money and leave the additives on the shelf.

Do not run 2-cycle oil in a 4-stroke engine. The oil affects the octane rating and detonation can occur. While the DME will detect the onset of detonation and dial back timing this costs power and increases fuel consumption.

BTW, gasoline has a bit of oil added to it, I forget the precentage but it is small around 1%. The oil is to prevent rusting of steel fuel lines, etc. However much oil gasoline has that is all it needs.
