Default Turbo tires... I couldn't do it...

The Turbo needs tires. A full set. Priced tires and checked availability yesterday at dealer parts department.

Bridgestone Potenza SO2's are $156.83/each fronts, $470.98/each rears. There was just one rear set showing in inventory.

MIchelin PS2's are $198.63/each fronts, $476.52/each rears. Rear tires on back order until March 1.

Sumitomo of HRTZ3'S are $122.88/each fronts, $175.90/each rears.

I thought about the Sumitomo tires I really did. Parts department guy said he sells a few sets of Sumitomo tires but only when the customer specifically asks for the Sumitomo tires.

But in the end I balked and ordered the Bridgestone set of tires. Parts department told me it managed to put the order in and get the last set of rear tires. Should be in by the 11th.

Default Tires

Sumitomos are great tires especially if one only drives in spring summer and not tracking. With the rate that the rears wear hard to justify the additional costs. And they drive great

Look at Yokohama AD08R. They are in a different league performance wise than all the tires you mentioned.

+ 1. I got these and loved them. Even got caught in snow (about an 1") and still managed to make it home quite safely. Only issues was cornering.

Not exactly in my experience with multiple sets on my Boxster S.
Value for money? Absolutely. What they lack in traction is more than made up for by the $$$ in my wallet.
Where I have found them to be lacking is noise. After ~1k miles, they sound like mudders would on a jacked up Jeep. Not just the noise, but vibration through the steering wheel.

I'm with Dennis.

The PS2's are much better than the S02a's and Sumi's.

S02's are not enough (if any) better than the HTR ZIII's to justify the cost difference IMO.

AD08R's or bust until something else get made in our size (OR HTR ZIII's as I have had positive experience with these for a street only tire).

for street the Sumitomos work fine.
Curious if you price checked with tire rack or other suppliers as the dealers in my area rape you on tires.

You took SO2s over PS2s and buy tires at the dealer? Why not the Falken fk453? Rears on discount tire direct are $215 and they are way better than SO2s?

I just ordered a set of the AD08R's. Read the temperature limitations carefully. Cold weather can cause them to crack if hit or dropped. They even recommend storing in temperatures above freezing. I called the Yokohama factory and spoke to an engineer to get the details.

It turns out not to be an issue for me as they will be summer only. But they are listed as Extreme Summer, not Maximum Summer for a reason.

I for one will not buy Michelin PS2 tires regardless of the press. I refuse to be held hostage to their production schedule; or better yet "lack of production" schedule. They are always back ordered, sometimes months.

Months? It's been over a year since there has been any availability of "new" PS2's in stock rear size.
