i've convinced myself the pirelli p zero rosso front /rear at 176 front and 376 rear as needed is the much better value relative to perfomance and endurance and value.never drive ( yet ) the falken ) newer rt615 but i hope to.

i think still the p zero is the best OTS off the shelf choice for g2 for this car. it s a tough tire

The parts department mentioned one more brand of tire but I do not recall the name but it sounded like a track tire and the parts manager agreed. Not suitable for my needs, all weather street driving.

Had the PS2's been in stock I would have given them a try. I've never run Michelin tires on the Turbo. (On the Boxster they have been pretty good.) I would have liked to try Michelin tires on the Turbo.

But I need tires now, not "March 1" and the Bridgestone tires were available.

I have run Bridgestone and Continental tires on the Turbo. (I think it came from the factory with Continental tires.) They are both great tires is my experience. Plenty of grip. Long wearing. Quiet, relatively speaking, even towards the end of their life.

Just checked and Tire Rack's prices are just a few dollars less. $179.30/fronts; $467.00 rears. (Marked down from $259.30/fronts (!) and $469.00/rears.

I believe at least my dealer buys its tires from Tire Rack vs. PCNA to save some money. PCNA is high -- what's new? -- but shipping is very high too.

Pirelli tires in the Turbo's sizes were not available. I've run Pirelli on my Boxster -- have a set on the car now -- and they are a good tire. My only complaint is Pirelli tires seem to get real noisy as they wear. I've run Michelin tires on the Boxster and Michelin tires are not quite as noisy towards the end but unless the prices are the same (or in one case the Michelin tires were a few dollars less than the Pirelli tires) I will go with Pirelli tires. My experience at least on the Boxster Michelin tires do not bring that much more to table. Less noise, as I said above, and maybe a bit more tire life, but not lots more.

Rob runs the Falken 615 and swears by them. I recently got the Falken 453 and like them better than my old Pzeros.

I was thinking off running these 235/40/18 305/30/18 for street tires.

I don't care about street grip, I'd rather a tire that wear like iron since I have track tires for track days. Also a tire that could do spring to fall. max performance summer tires are not good for spring or fall.

Those are my preferred track tire or R888's. But they suck for spring/fall DD

You do have to remember what you're driving on until warm, after that fine if you're not pushing it in silly places. Plus, he's in CA, 12mo of summer.

True , never though of that. No wonder his boxster has 300k on it. One Canadian winter and it would be coughing up cylinder lining.

I've been through this tire debate / situation and just put S02's back on the Turbo last month. There are so few choices for our size it amazes me. I mean continental doesn't make anything anymore, one size / type of Michelins. one size and type from Bridgestone and then there are the extreme track tires then the chinese guys. There is no choice here. Plus once you finally get the tire you get to pay the high labor fee to have a 30 series rated tire mounted.
DAMN!!!

Ok time to go to bed.

Honestly I am begining to wonder if Michelin is planning for bankruptcy. They have nothing available for any high end cars anymore. Plenty of cheapo tires but nothing is sport car sizes.

Pirelli's at Tirerack are a pretty unbeatable price/quality bang-for-buck
I do prefer the RT615K as a proper street performance/track tire though...

Hey Jean-Marc,
Currently on the Pirelli Rosso's, but think I'm going to go back to the Falken RT615K's...would be real nice if Tirerack carried them...The Pirelli's are hard to beat for the price, but the Falken's are the real deal street performance/track tire IMO...If T.R. had them, there would be no question which set I would continuously buy... hugely better performance tire, particularly in feel, stability, confidence
I may give the Nitto NT01 a shot, but treadwear rating(never truly accurate) and tread height are concerns...
Have a 6TT running on the Falken 453's, wearing very nicely and owner likes them a lot, dry winter cold to hot summer...
Zero ties or bias towards Falken but seem to operate very well here...
Cheers,
Rob
