Default How much would you pay for wheels?

I've read all the threads that discuss preferred rim manufacturers but didn't really see a pricing thread. I thought I'd submit a quick poll to gather your thoughts. I'm considering a second set of rims to protect my OEM TTS rims and to change the look up a bit during the year.

For those that have bought a good set of replacement rims (not a winter set to knock around) what is the most that you ever paid? For those that are considering a set, what is the most you would pay for something equal or better in quality as your OEM set? Not trying to identify price to individuals but just a summary from the poll.

thanks

I've never paid more than $2k, but I'm patient and find them used.

For me no need to pay more than 700-900 per wheel. Decent wheels can be bought for 300-400

I have a friend with 20" savinis and Pirelli tires less than 100 miles on them. Practically giving them away

You guys are killing me with these deals and low prices. I'm looking at 18" new ones, but my pricing is much higher.

These P40SC's are what I would like to have. Chances of finding used ones in 18" satin black is like the proverbial unicorn. Great quality but the price for a new set is up there.

As Cincy said, patience is key. Every set of wheels I have bought over the years has at fire sale prices from sellers looking to change directions or free up funds. Winter months seem to be the time to score parts.

As long as OZ exists and I can get strong, light weight wheels for under $2K I will go with them! I've had a few sets on various cars over the years...no complaints

That said, if there was a brand that I could get a new set of even lighter forged 1 piece wheels for a little over $2k I would be all over it!!! I guess in this poll even then, I'd still be in choice number two.

It depends on the use. Mostly for street around 1500, de events 2500, pro racing anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 per rim.

In the past few years we have ran a wheel we normally would not run at the request of a manufacture for corporate reasons. They are absolutely garbage for racing application and to be honest I think it has cost us victories as well as had high failure rates. These exact wheels are highly regarded on many forums as bein lightweight and strong. I can tell you it's far from the truth.

I sent a message to the folks at Apex to make some Porsche specific wheels. They are great on my BMW as track wheels light, strong AND cheap! Sets for usually 1000 - 1200, and much more aesthetically pleasing IMO than some of the other cheaper brands available.

Everyone help inundate them with email/messages and maybe we can get another supplier on the market!

Are you talking about wheels made by a manufacturer with a two letter name? The Wizard of ....?
