Default Is there a list of all the messages that pop up and what they mean?

This morning, after our '02 had sat for about 2 weeks, it struggled to start a bit. It did start and everything has been fine, but right before it fired off a picture of the check engine light popped up and it said "*something* failure"

I googled a bit and only found pictures of the oil pressure picture or temp picture popping up, but nothing with the CEL picture coming on. I figured it was a low voltage thing since it struggle to start, but once it started it was fine.

I tried to start it again, after driving for about 40 minutes and the first time I turned the key it barely turned over and stopped, I turned the key again and it started fine. Battery issue? Was it a low voltage issue that made the picture pop up?

The last time it was driven was when we were driving it home from its 90,000 mile service.

FWIW, I have the manual, but I don't keep it in the car, and I'm at work, so thats why I have to ask.

Your indicator stalk has an option box that will recall displayed messages. Same menu you perform oil level check from. What's the Voltage on car before you start it?

Yeah, I checked that and it said "no messages present" or something along those lines. Does that mean it was just an erroneous message?

The voltage just before start is around 12V I think. I didn't check it the first time, and the second time it was right around there.

Charging system needs checked the battery is low, most keep a tender on when not in use. Usually the regulator goes bad but if your having a shop do the work I would go with new alternator if needed.

We just had a cold snap here, so I'm hoping its just the battery. Its garaged, but the garage isn't heated. We literally just had the 90k mile service done, so I hope that for the price I paid they checked the charging system. When the car was running voltage was fine.

Charge the battery and put a tender on it.

I'm at work now taking it to an indy shop after work to get brakes done, I'll ask them to put a tender on it.

When the battery voltage gets even slightest bit low you can get all sorts of weird and irrelevant service messages.

I once got a "transmission oil over temperature" warning right after starting my car that was stone cold.

You should really put a tender charger on it while it is sitting unused at your house.

Yup, I know what I'll be looking for on black Friday. Can anyone here recommend a battery tender?

Yeah, I just learned 5 minutes ago that there are battery tenders that plug into the cig lighter. My mind was freakin' blown because for some reason I was thinking they were one way...then I realized electricity isn't one way and that I was a complete idiot.

I may have to get one of those since my wife drives the 911 and I'm not sure I want her messing around with connections on the battery.
